Welcome to the Brewery Tap at Ware, a traditional pub with live sports and music.
The Brewery Tap pub has stood in the middle of the High Street in Ware since the 15th century. Originally a coaching inn, the bar has been transformed into a haven for cask ale, premium lager, cider and quality spirits! The pub used to have its own brewery, that’s now gone but we continue the brewing tradition by serving the best cask ales from local brewers, we even have our very own ‘Warehouse Ale’ – brewed locally to our own recipe.
Now a family run business under the management of the Migan family, come and try a pint in our delightful pub, enclosed and heated courtyard garden or cellar bar.
Sports and music pub
The Brewery Tap has Sky Sports, BT Sports Amazon and Sky Racing Channel, showing all the big matches on large screens throughout the pub and Courtyard. We recommend booking a table on big match days or at busy times. Our Cellar Bar is a great place for a party every weekend and we hold monthly over 30’s Discos and events. Don’t worry if your lucky enough to be under 30 you can still hear all the tunes in our main bar! Please follow our Facebook page to keep up to date with all the latest sports and music events at The Brewery Tap click here.
Our Cellar Bar can also be hired for private parties please call us on 01920 468549 to discuss your requirements.
Quality bar food and snacks
Our food offer is simple – bar food done well and served during the day only. We serve traditional pie mash and liquor and our wagyu burgers are very popular on Saturdays. On the weekend we have a seafood stall in our courtyard 12 pm – 5 pm. We advise calling ahead for larger tables of diners and at busy times. For more details of our pub food please click here
Pub History
The Brewery Tap is a Grade II listed building and over the years has had many alterations, including having a shopfront added in the 19th century. The earliest pub was recorded on the site in 1509 as The Horseshoe Inn and then became the Golden Cross Inn. The pub was the ‘Tap’ for the High Street Brewery between 1866 and 1878 before the brewery closed and the pub was then associated with the nearby Star Brewery, becoming the Star Brewery Tap. We’re now the good old Brewery Tap!
